Bob Crutchfield

Prior to founding Third Trimester Venture Management, L.L.C., Bob was the Senior Vice President/General Manager of the Pharmacy Services Division at US Oncology. US Oncology, a privately held, vertically integrated cancer care provider network, has community cancer clinics in 466 sites of service and a physician network consisting of over 1000 medical oncologists and radiation oncologists. He was responsible for over $2 billion of annual revenue, managing five business units, pharmaceutical purchasing and contracting, as well as the senior executive relationships with the company's major pharmaceutical manufacturers.

In 1995, Bob founded Surgical Innovations and Services, Inc., a surgical laser solutions and management firm. Under his leadership, SIS became a leader in the emerging comprehensive service provider market sector. In 2000, SIS merged with Surgical Laser Technologies, Inc, a publicly traded surgical laser-manufacturing firm. Following the merger, Bob remained President of SIS and was Vice President of Sales, Marketing and New Business Development for Surgical Laser Technologies.

This experience brought him to Cardinal Health, where he served as Vice President of New Ventures. At Cardinal, Bob was charged with growing and developing the surgical products offering for the Medical Products and Services Division from one of commodity-based products, to one more focused on surgical device and surgeon preference offerings. He built a $25 million new revenue stream through licensing of new technologies, acquisitions and creating a new North American sales channel. He had VP-GM responsibilities for the resultant business unit.

He is a graduate of the University of Georgia and holds a B.S. degree in Political Science. He currently resides in Tuscaloosa, AL with his wife and three children.

Ronald Dulek

Ron Dulek

Ronald E. Dulek is Head of the Management and Marketing Department and the John R. Miller Professor of Management at The University of Alabama. Within the last three years he has been a visiting lecturer in: Budapest, Hungary; Dresden, Germany; Helsinki, Finland; Riga, Latvia, and Shanghai, China.

Dr. Dulek has serves as consultant and advisor to executives of the world’s finest public and private organizations. He has been actively involved with Am South Bank Corporation, The Occupational Safety and Health Association, The Open Society Institute, Kimberly-Clark Corporation, Bell South, Sony, Stora Enso, and IBM. For IBM, he co-authored a communication-training program that was offered to more than 30,000 IBM managers. For OSHA, he served on a national task force that helped to create a highly praised standardized reporting format used throughout the country. Most recently, he worked with George Soros and the Open Society Institute to improve the effectiveness of this worldwide organization’s communication system.

Dr. Dulek has published seven books and more than forty academic and business-oriented articles.

Dr. Dulek has received the University of Alabama’s Outstanding Commitment to Teaching Award, as well as being frequently selected as "MBA Teacher of the Year." He is also the recipient of the University of Alabama’s Penny Allen Award, an award given for outstanding contributions to undergraduate students.

Frank Fitts is the President and Owner of Fitts Industries, Inc. Fitts Industries, Inc. is worldwide manufacturer of stair case components and millwork for the housing industry in North America and Japan. Under his leadership, Fitts Industries has become a leader in off shore manufacturing and quality control. Fitts has manufacturing, marketing and importation facilities in Tuscaloosa, AL and Tacoma, WA.

He is also the President and Founder of Palmetto Creek, Inc. Palmetto Creek, Inc. is a furniture manufacturer using innovative design and color, specializing in furniture styles for coastal living. The company targets the condominium and vacation home markets from the Southern Gulf Coasts and the mid-Atlantic Coast in the United States.

Frank is active in many civic, professional and corporate roles. A few of these include a member of the Tuscaloosa Chamber of Commerce, Board of Trustees for Theatre Tuscaloosa, President's Cabinet of the University of Alabama, Board Member of the Society of International Business Fellows and Board Member of Regions Bank in Tuscaloosa.

Frank holds a Bachelors of Science from the University of Alabama and resides in Tuscaloosa with his wife and three children.

 

Zane Tarence

Zane Tarence

Zane has over 21 years experience as an operator and deal maker in the technology arena, most recently serving as the V.P. of Business Development for CTS, an IT professional services company, and Managing Partner of Alliance Consulting, a technology early stage business accelerator. Zane has served the six technology-focused companies in Alliance’s portfolio as an active board member and in various business development and sales & marketing management roles.

Before founding Alliance Consulting, Zane was the VP of Business Development for the Boston-based publisher, Houghton Mifflin. Houghton Mifflin purchased Virtual Learning Technologies, the software company Zane had founded and led, in May of 2000 in a total cash buyout. Prior to starting VLT in 1997, Zane worked for IBM for 12 years in various business development, IT consulting, and management roles.

Zane is a regular speaker at national conferences dealing with product commercializing and technology value optimization. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree from Auburn University in Montgomery and Masters of Science Degree in Organizational Management from Southern Christian University.
